Advertising and partnerships

Palmus is designed as an editorial resource. If advertising or sponsorship appears, it will be separated from editorial material and labeled in language readers can understand. This policy applies to display advertising, sponsored content and partnerships of any kind on the Palmus website. At the date of this edition, Palmus does not sell products or memberships and does not present any advertising as editorial content, so the rules below describe how any future placement would be handled.

  1. 1. Separation

Paid placements do not determine article selection or conclusions. The editorial team plans its publishing calendar before any commercial discussion takes place. Advertising staff, where any are involved, do not take part in editorial meetings and cannot see drafts. This separation applies equally to display advertising, sponsored content and partnerships. An advertiser cannot ask for an article to be removed, delayed or reworded because it discusses a competing idea or approach. Where one person would otherwise hold both a commercial and an editorial role, the decision on the commercial matter is taken by someone else.

    • (a) The publishing calendar is set before commercial discussions.
    • (b) Drafts are not shared with advertisers or partners.
  2. 2. Labels

Sponsored, partner and advertising labels are shown near the relevant material. Labels use words such as Advertisement, Sponsored or Partner content in plain English and are visible without scrolling or hovering. A labelled item is visually distinct from an editorial article and is never styled to look like one. If a relationship is ongoing, the label states it in the first sentence of the item. Labels are not removed after a campaign ends while the item remains on the site, and they are not hidden in small print. Labels can be read by screen readers, so the distinction is available to readers who do not see the page visually.

    • (a) Advertisement: paid placement with no editorial involvement.
    • (b) Sponsored: content supported by a named organisation and reviewed for accuracy.
    • (c) Partner: a collaboration where Palmus and a named organisation share work.
    • (d) Labels are written in text and are not conveyed by colour alone.
  3. 3. Health claims

We do not accept unsupported claims about diagnosis, cure, guaranteed performance or unsafe products. Any health statement in a placement must be capable of being supported by credible evidence, and we may ask the advertiser for that evidence. Before-and-after comparisons, specific weight-change figures and promises of results are not accepted. Products that fall into restricted categories, such as supplements making health claims, tobacco, alcohol, gambling or weapons, are not accepted at all. Placements that use fear of illness, ageing or loss of ability as a way of prompting a purchase are also declined. An advertiser that supplies evidence is still asked to phrase the claim in measured language that matches the strength of the evidence.

    • (a) Evidence for any health statement is requested before publication.
    • (b) Results promises and personal transformation imagery are declined.
    • (c) Restricted categories are declined regardless of how a claim is worded.
  4. 4. Audience safety

Creative and landing pages must be appropriate for an adult educational audience and comply with applicable platform rules. We expect advertisers to follow Indonesian advertising and consumer protection requirements, including Law No. 8 of 1999. Pages that use misleading urgency, fabricated reviews or clickbait headlines are declined. Creative is reviewed against these rules before it is published, and it can be removed if later found not to comply. We check that the page a reader reaches after selecting a placement matches what the placement described. Placements that ask for personal or financial details without a clear explanation of how they will be used are not accepted.

    • (a) Landing pages are visited and checked before a placement goes live.
    • (b) Placements that mislead about price, availability or effect are declined.
  5. 5. Data

Advertisers do not receive contact form messages or private reader correspondence. Palmus does not sell reader lists, and we do not share email addresses with commercial partners. If an advertiser uses its own measurement, that is described in the cookie policy before it is enabled and it requires your consent. The privacy policy explains how messages are held, including the 24-month retention period for correspondence. Advertisers may receive aggregate figures about the reach of a placement, such as the number of page views, but not information that identifies a reader. A partner who asks for reader data as a condition of working with Palmus will be declined.

    • (a) Aggregate reach figures may be shared; individual data is not.
    • (b) Any advertiser measurement is listed in the cookie policy and requires consent.
  6. 6. Editorial wall

Editors retain the right to reject a placement that conflicts with accuracy, safety or reader trust. The decision rests with the senior editor and does not need to be justified to the advertiser beyond a short written explanation. A placement can also be paused if a credible reader complaint is received while it is reviewed. Rejected placements are logged so that decisions remain consistent. The log records the date, the category of concern and the outcome, and it does not name the individual who submitted a complaint. Financial arrangements do not affect the decision, and a rejected placement does not lead to any penalty for the editorial team.

    • (a) The senior editor makes the decision on a placement.
    • (b) Decisions are recorded to keep them consistent over time.
  7. 7. Third parties

Partner claims remain the partner’s responsibility, while Palmus avoids presenting them as independent evidence. Where a partner statement appears on the site, it is attributed to the partner by name. We do not endorse a third-party product or service simply because it is advertised or sponsored here. Readers are encouraged to check partner claims with their own sources. Partners must not use Palmus articles or the Palmus name in their own material in a way that suggests endorsement. A partner that does so is asked to remove the reference promptly, and the relationship is reviewed.

    • (a) Partner statements are attributed by name.
    • (b) Palmus articles may not be quoted by partners to imply endorsement.
  8. 8. Complaints

Report a misleading placement through contact.php with the page and concern. You may also telephone +62 813 9587 4123 between 09:00 and 17:00 Western Indonesia Time, Monday to Friday. We acknowledge a report within five business days and aim to complete a review within 15 business days. If a placement is found to be misleading, it is removed and the outcome is recorded. Letters may be sent to Palmus, Jl. Raya Cilandak KKO No.17, RT.1/RW.5, Ragunan, Ps. Minggu, Kota Jakarta Selatan, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 12560, Indonesia. The complainant is told the result in writing, and where a placement is paused during the review, the reader is informed of that as well.

    • (a) Include the page address, a description and a screenshot if available.
    • (b) The outcome is sent in writing to the person who reported it.
  9. 9. Review

This policy is reviewed at least annually and after a significant change in commercial activity. A review checks the labelling in use, the list of restricted categories and the complaints log. Findings are discussed by the editorial team and summarised in the change record below. Readers can ask for earlier editions, which we keep for 36 months. The review also checks that the wording remains consistent with the editorial policy, the cookie policy and the privacy policy. If a placement type is introduced that this policy does not describe, it is not accepted until the policy has been updated.

    • (a) Labelling, restricted categories and complaints are checked at each review.
    • (b) New placement types require a policy update before they are accepted.
  10. 10. Current date

The current edition is dated 5 October 2026 and applies to new placements from that date. Placements agreed before then are reviewed against this edition at their next renewal. No advertising is currently presented as editorial content on Palmus. Readers who find a commercial item that does not carry a label are asked to report it through the contact page, and the item will be labelled or removed. The date shown at the top of the page changes only when the wording of the policy changes.

    • (a) 1 July 2026: first written advertising and partnership policy.
    • (b) 17 August 2026: restricted categories and data handling wording clarified.
    • (c) 5 October 2026: label definitions, restricted categories and complaint timings described in more detail.
